Briefly
polus.atom.online is a quiz website for schoolchildren, the finalists of which will travel to the North Pole on an icebreaker.
1. Search
Before starting the design process, we conducted an analytical study to identify youth visual trends among children aged 12–16. As a result, two stylistic directions were proposed.
#1 Neon 3D
A futuristic neon key, created as a 3D illustration using various materials. This design has a toy-like feel, yet is striking and modern, with a nod to science fiction.
#2 Photos + graphics
This key combines the warmth of lively photographs of the expedition participants with the magic of illustrations. It's a vibrant option for decorating a children's project.
2. Result
Ultimately, the second option, featuring photographs and illustrations, was chosen, which we implemented in the form of collages, animations, and graphic elements.
For the cover of the main page, we created a video that combines footage from the latest expedition with line animation.
Illustrations of North Pole residents and handwritten captions were specially created for the website.
The questions are divided into three thematic tracks, which in turn consist of four stages, the level of difficulty of which increases.
As a result, 15 main pages were developed, including the participant’s Personal Account, the registration page, information screens within the quiz, adaptive elements, and newsletters.
3. 2020-2021
In 2020 and 2021, we created two more websites for the Knowledge Icebreaker project. Each time, we tried to implement a new design.
